Toronto Dispatch

About

The Toronto Dispatch is a daily news briefing on industry in Hogtown.

We never report on individual crimes or partisan politics, and we treat local-interest stories with scepticism. Our briefings are a catalogue of business, technology and science, and the decisions that change the city: the shape of its economy, how it is built, and its culture. Toronto is one of the world’s great financial, industrial and creative centres. The Dispatch is the news that those pursuing original and creative work in the city need to know.

We are inspired by the old taverns, reading rooms and stock exchange that became daily gathering places for merchants, bankers and industrialists in the 1800s. Like those places, we aim to be warm, welcoming and worthy of your time.

The brief is composed each day by a series of AI agents, according to careful standards that we are continually improving. Headlines and facts always come from a handful of approved outlets doing fine journalism in the city. We always cite our sources and link back to the original work. Figures and charts are overwhelmingly checked against official government and industry sources. Each issue is reviewed and lightly edited before it is published.

Our tagline, “Industry. Intelligence. Integrity.”, was the City of Toronto’s motto until 1998.

Send us a correction and we will add it to the website and the next issue. We use Buttondown as our email provider. The Dispatch is a project by The Toronto Society.
